Who we are

RAAF is a dutch company that provides consulting and software development services. We do systems engineering work for large-scale datacenters, creating custom automation solutions using tools like CFengine, Puppet and Session. On the software side, we work on various in-house and customer-on-premises software projects in Java, Javascript and Python.

Started in 2008, RAAF has build an impressive roster of customers (a selection of which you can see on our customer logo bar). We've consistently delivered results that count by applying ourselves, creating solutions and doing true automation. RAAF always strives to implement solutions that give our customers independence and self-reliance. We do not believe in an infinite-engagement strategy, creating tools versus putting people on chairs.

RAAF's raison d'ĂȘtre is radically changing the way we administer computer systems, especially large, heterogeneous collections of computer systems. We're using our experience in large-scale environments to create our flagship software product, Structure.

What we do

Our mission on any engagement is to make ourselves redundant. It doesn't matter if we're working on a custom software product, or on an automated deployment environment for operating systems. Our solution has to give the customer independence and self-reliance - if you need us after we're gone, we failed! This mindset underpins our work and we believe our customer's satisfaction to date is a direct result of this mentality.

On the systems engineering side of things, we specialize in large scale automation and management of heterogeneous environments. We do specialist engagements related to Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, Ubuntu LTS, Oracle Solaris, HP/UX, IBM AIX, FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD and Microsoft Windows Server products. We work with a slew of physical and virtual environments, like VMware ESX and vSphere, KVM, Xen, LDOM, HPVM, LPAR / PowerVM and bhyve.

We have strong experience in large-scale automation tools like CFengine, Puppet and Chef. Additionally, we have in-depth knowledge of performance and stability tuning for hosted applications based on Oracle Database, Java Application Servers like IBM WebSphere, Oracle WebLogic and Red Hat's JBoss Enterprise Application Platform and backup products like EMC NetWorker and Symantec NetBackup.

On the software engineering side of things, we do on-premises and remote engagements. We specialize in large-scale enterprise software work in Java, Java Enterprise Edition, Javascript, Python, PowerShell and Posix Shells like Bash and KSH. We have extensive experience setting up continuous integration and deployment environments using Atlassian Bamboo, Jenkins, IBM Bluemix DevOps Services and related tools like Git and Subversion.

Our experience dealing with large-scale and diverse operating environments culminates in an in-house product we're developing called “Structure”. Structure is our next generation systems management application. With structure, you can manage extreme-scale environments that are completely diverse, set-up in arbitrary hierachical structures and gain overview and control of your environment. You can read more about Structure and request a pre-availability demonstration on our structure feature page.
